Function determines the form of Shaker designed artifacts. The same is true of typography,
in that the function of each letter determines its form. The concept of this book celebrating Shaker furniture, tools and objects is to visually relate letter characters and Shaker artifacts through form. The two are juxtaposed in the layouts. Each enlarged letter character at once introduces a word evoking the Shaker way of life and echoes the shape of a Shaker artifact.
