According to Freud, the unconscious
is made up of two conflicting entities. The elemental and instinctual Id represents primitive drives, sweeping appetites and unfettered emotion. The discerning Ego represents the intellect, rational analysis and judgment. The Ego attempts to impose sober reality upon the Id’s unrestrained pursuit of pleasure.
The Idego chair gives form to Freud's theories. The dark-colored mahogany base represents the primal Id. The light-colored maple seat represents the rational Ego. The rocking motion of the chair enacts our struggle to maintain a balance between passion and reason.

Burnt Coat Harbor Light was built in 1872 on Swan's Island, Maine. The logo reflects its obelisk-like architecture of the lighthouse. The typography was adapted from industrial fonts in use at the time the light station was built.

The Peachtree Garden Club logo
and typography was inspired by American seed packets from the early 20th century, when the club was founded. Marrying utility with economy, the design was printed as a sticker that could be applied to writing paper and envelopes to create letterhead, as well as to name tags, newsletters, etc. (Image courtesy of the Cherokee Garden Library, Atlanta History Center)
